As the names suggest, both of these areas are situated very close to the respective golf courses so a great place to look for property in the south of Tenerife if you are a golfer!
They are situated about a 15 minutes´ drive from Playa de las Américas, heading out towards the airport. In fact, they are just underneath the flight path of the Reina Sofía airport. These areas have been purpose built in and around the golf courses and are pretty much self-contained with supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants and have both touristic and residential properties. They have a one-way in, one-way out access to them and the Golf del Sur area is built around a large one-way system.
Due to their out of town position which is just a short drive from the more central areas, the prices of property in Golf del Sur & Amarilla Golf tend to be lower than those in comparison with the Costa Adeje areas. There are some good-value properties to be had in the Pebble Beach complex in Amarilla Golf and the Green Golf complex on the Golf del Sur.
If your budget allows you to shop at the other end of the market and you are looking for a villa in Tenerife, then the Alamos Park villas on the Golf del Sur and the new Sun Bay villas or Island Golf villas in Amarilla Golf will offer you that little bit of extra luxury. Also, just adjacent to the Golf del Sur is the 5 star eco-friendly hotel, Sandos San Blas which offers luxury villas around the resort with the added bonus that the owners may use the facilities of the hotel.
If you would like to wake up with views of the green every morning, then you could look at buying a property actually in the middle of the golf course such as the houses and bungalows of the Fairways Village and San Andrés complexes.
Even if you aren’t actually on the golf course, the views of the fairways are never far away and this in itself is a refreshing bonus, actually being able to see green grass every day!
Both of these golfing towns offer sound infrastructures with all the necessary amenities including a multi-national private medical clinic and chemist on the Golf del Sur, a small leisure harbour in Amarilla Golf and with easy access to the motorway, they make Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife, an easy 40 minute drive away. However, for schools and social security medical centers for example, you would have to go to the neighbouring towns of San Miguel, Las Chafiras or Los Abrigos. Los Abrigos is a quaint little fishing village nestled around a small harbour and boasts some of the best fish restaurants in the south of the island. It has a very Spanish feel to it and you can find very affordable apartments for sale here.
Between these golfing areas and the TF1 motorway is the industrial estate called Las Chafiras. This is an ever expanding area and offers large supermarkets, DIY stores, furniture shops and textile shops to name but a few … plus a large Iceland shop for all of your creature comforts! Here and also in the neighbouring area of Llano del Camello is where you can find very affordable and spacious apartments and townhouses in the south of Tenerife.
So if you are looking for a property in the south of Tenerife, be it a villa or an apartment and you don’t mind being a short drive out of the main hubbub of Playa de las Américas, then a property in or around Golf del Sur or Amarilla Golf may be the answer. You have easy access to local amenities, are amidst the enviable green zones of the south and you can walk to the golf course and club house!
